Ophaya Smart Pen Not Syncing? Start With These Checks

If your writing is missing from the Ophaya app, keep the notebook and leave existing app data in place while you check the connection. Do not start by uninstalling the app, clearing its storage or resetting the pen. First establish where the missing notes may be stored.

If your writing is missing from the Ophaya app, keep the notebook and leave existing app data in place while you check the connection. Do not start by uninstalling the app, clearing its storage or resetting the pen. First establish where the missing notes may be stored.

These checks come from Ophaya's Smart Pen Writing Set manual. Another brand may need a different procedure, and the permission prompts on your phone may differ from those shown in the manual.

1. Separate connection trouble from conversion trouble

Write a short test line on a fresh, compatible page with the pen powered on. Look for the handwriting itself in the app.

If the strokes appear but converted text contains mistakes, the pen has captured that test writing. Focus on handwriting conversion rather than repeatedly reconnecting the pen. If only the exported file is missing, check the export step and its destination. Those are different problems from missing pen strokes.

2. Check charge and the writing surface

Recharge the pen with the supplied USB cable, power it on and try again. The manual specifies compatible Ophaya notebooks, writing boards or B5 paper. Ordinary paper can hold the ink, but it is not a supported surface for digital capture.

Use a small test on a known-compatible surface before troubleshooting an entire notebook. Keep the original paper pages even if they have not appeared in the app.

3. Match the correct pen

The manual says to select the Bluetooth ID whose ending matches the MAC code printed on the pen. This matters if more than one pen is nearby.

Check whether the pen is already paired with another account or device. Follow the app's connection procedure rather than repeatedly switching between devices. Do not erase an old account to solve a connection issue.

4. Review Bluetooth and permissions

On Android, the manual calls for Bluetooth and Location Services to be enabled. On iOS, check that Bluetooth is on. Review the permissions requested by the Ophaya app if you previously declined them; the exact controls depend on your operating system.

After charging and checking the relevant settings, reconnect and repeat the short writing test. If it still fails, note what the app displays rather than trying destructive reset steps.

5. Check for offline handwriting

The manual describes a prompt to sync offline handwriting after reconnection. If that prompt appears, follow it and check the expected notebook afterward. Finding one new test line does not prove that all older pages have transferred.

Offline handwriting and audio are separate. Ophaya records audio through the phone or tablet app, not inside the pen. Syncing pen strokes cannot recover a recording that was never made.

When to contact support

Use the Info area in the Ophaya app to contact support if the checks do not resolve the issue. Include your phone model, operating system, app version and what happened during the short test. Say whether all writing is missing or only a particular page.

A screenshot of an error can help, but crop out private notes and account details. Ask support how to preserve pending handwriting before following any reset or reinstall instruction. Once your notes are accessible, make a backup and check a readable export outside the app.
